Minnesota YPFDJ Delivers Toys Before Santa.

On Saturday, December 19, 2009, Minnesota YPFDJ helped the Salvation Army hand out toys to families in need.

The 6 chapter members (Tita, Aron, Girmay, John, Marta, and Million) arrived at the National Guard Armory in St. Paul, MN at 8 am, eager to help the 14,440 families registered for Christmas assistance. Their assignment was to escort parents through the toy-filled gymnasium, by selecting toys that were sectioned off by gender and age range.
Parents received board games and gift certificates to Cub Foods, and also had the option of either 2 small toys or 1 big toy per child.

During these hard economic times, families are looking to organizations more than ever for help this Christmas.

“This is truly a blessing,” one unemployed single mother said. “I don’t know how I would have given my kids gifts this Christmas.”

This was the first Christmas the YPFDJ-MN chapter volunteered with the Salvation Army, and the group says it will continue to serve people in the Twin Cities Metro area.
