It is people that make history, and pearls of Eritrea,YPFDJ-Denmark, made history last Friday. Biddho cultural troop from Eritrea comprising Elsa Kidane, Dawit Shilan, Melekin Atombos, and Tedros Hagos played in Copenhagen last Friday, December the 26th, 2008. This event is franchised by the youth organization in Europe (Young-PFDJ). This Event took place for the second time and it was spectacular in many aspects. The success of this event, was a culmination of six years of organizational work by patriot Eritreans, the Mass organizations PFDJ, committed and supportive parents, and most of all by zealous and patriot young Eritreans in Denmark. What made the party in Copenhagen on December the 26th 2008 so spectacular was because it, as opposed to last year, was initiated, planned, well co-ordinated completely and exclusively by YPFDJ-Denmark members, who managed to engage almost all the youth in Copenhagen at the execution of the party. Contents of last Friday's event were full of surprises, variations and fun to all. Before Biddho troops commenced the live concert, YPFDJ-Denmark had arranged a number of unique entertainments. Spectacular stage lighting, computer designed slogans, and backstage design that was never done before. The surprises went on. Members of YPFDJ-Denmark played theatre piece, whose message touched many through both tears and laughter. They had a fashion-show that triggered wide smile and laughter among all and the icing of the program was rap music by young and promising talents of Eritrean youth in Denmark, who remixed an old Elsa Kidane song "Sedetenya" from 1987 leaving Elsa Kidane and a crowd of kids in extacy. As the saying goes: "Honour he due to honour". Another surprise, which YPFDJ-Denmark conjured up out of their hat, was that YPFDJ-Denmark honoured two Danish citizens that helped Eritrean struggle since 1978 and still are among us and help our community. What was so touching about this deed was that it was a long awaited recognition, which the Eritrean community in Copenhagen in general and the mass organization (EPLF in Denmark then and YPFDJ now) in particular failed to do in the past two decades. And yet, our youth, the pearls of Eritrea, YPFDJ-Denmark, shouldered this task and indeed did it on behalf of Eritrea and Eritreans in Denmark. Ogaden youth leaders from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and UK who coincidently had a meeting in Denmark that very same weekend, were invited as special guests and got the opportunity to show their appreciation and admiration to the Eritrean community and YPFDJ in Denmark. The Biddho Band was outstanding. Having entertained the community in Milano just 18 hours before entering the stage in Copenhagen, they showed no sign of tiredness and gave the crowd a memorable time, which deserves much admiration.
It was one of the best and well executed Eritrean party we have ever witnessed. |
